Methods to Clean Stainless Steel Kitchen Appliances

White Vinegar & Olive Oil

You can find many possible solutions for treating stainless steel kitchen appliances, but some work better than others. According to hgtv.com, pure white vinegar is a great cleaning solution to spray onto your stainless steel and wipe down with a microfiber cloth. Follow this step with an olive oil polish, and you are good to go.

Mild Dish Soap & Baby Oil

Your household dish soap mixed with warm water also works perfectly well. You don’t necessarily have to use a fancy product to get streak-free results. After you wipe down and dry your appliances, you can use baby oil to polish them.

Store Bought Cleaners

If you prefer to use a commercial concoction to clean stainless steel kitchen appliances, there are ones that have stood the test. Several brands that have excellent stainless steel cleaning products include Therapy, Weiman, and Simple Green.

Don’ts of Cleaning Stainless Steel

When cleaning stainless steel, keep these “don’ts” in mind:

  • Don’t use abrasive scrubbers
  • Don’t use oven cleaner
  • Don’t use cleaners with chlorine or chloride
  • Don’t use hard water

Why Polish Stainless Steel?

It is easy to see why you would want to clean your stainless steel kitchen appliances. Smudges and streaks make a kitchen look sloppy and depressing, but a clean kitchen feels orderly and pristine. Why would you need to polish stainless steel? Do you need to polish it? Stainless steel is resistant to bacterial growth, but a good polish can make it even more so. It also protects the metal from tough water and other stains.
