If the Oven Is Not Heating

One of the most frustrating things to experience in your house is an oven that is not working, especially if it is Thanksgiving or you like to bake or cook regularly. Having an oven that heats food properly and evenly produces vastly different results compared to a subpar oven. If the oven is not heating, check all of these things before calling a technician. You’ll save money, time, and fix the oven speedily.

Check the Power

It’s a good idea to troubleshoot the issue from the most basic possible cause to the most refined. The most fundamental cause of a malfunctioning oven could be that the power is off. Check the electric panel to see if the circuit breaker has gone off. Once you have it switched on again, it should work again. If it does not, move on to these steps.

Check the Controls

Next, check that the oven controls are up to snuff. See that your oven’s controls are set properly. If you removed the oven control covers when cleaning, make sure that they are back on as they were originally.

Check the Heating Element

You know now that the power is on and the controls are correct. Is it still not working? Look closely. When the oven is turned on, watch the heating elements, the squiggly metal rods at the bottom and top of the oven. They should turn red as they warm up. If they do not, you can replace it with the OEM part from Landers Appliance.

Check the Temperature Sensor

If it is not that, you can also check the temperature sensor. This sensor is a short rod at the upper back of the oven. If it is askew or touching the wall, it might not work properly. Straightening it out can make it alright again. If not, it is easy to replace it.

Call a Technician

If the issue is not with an external, easy-to-reach element, it is likely an internal issue.
